Up for auction are two original United States Mint First Day Coin Cover sets, featuring the 2005 California and 2004 Wisconsin State Quarters. Each limited-edition cover includes two uncirculated coins-one from the Philadelphia Mint and one from the Denver Mint-securely mounted inside their U.S. Mint-issued display packaging.
2005 California State Quarter - First Day Coin Cover
• Features two uncirculated California quarters (P & D), struck on the first day of mintage: January 5, 2005.
• Cancelled 37¢ U.S. Flag stamp, postmarked January 31, 2005, the official first day of issue.
• California was the 31st state quarter released in the 50 State Quarters Program.
• Reverse design by Don Everhart showcases naturalist John Muir, the iconic Yosemite Valley with Half Dome, and a soaring California Condor.
• Includes inscriptions “Eureka - I Have Found It” and “Admitted to the Union 1850.”
2004 Wisconsin State Quarter - First Day Coin Cover
• Contains two uncirculated Wisconsin quarters (P & D), plus a 37¢ U.S. Flag stamp postmarked October 25, 2004 - Madison, Wisconsin, the day of issue.
• The reverse design celebrates the state’s rich agricultural heritage with a cow, a round of cheese, and an ear of corn.
• Wisconsin was the 30th coin in the 50 State Quarters Program.
• Collectors value this year especially because the Denver Mint “Extra Leaf” varieties (Low Leaf & High Leaf) are associated with 2004 Wisconsin quarters-making all Wisconsin issues from this year especially desirable.
Packaging & Condition
• Both sets remain encased in protective plastic with sturdy cardboard backing.
• Clean, collectible condition-excellent for display or long-term preservation.
A wonderful pair of historic U.S. Mint releases, perfect for any State Quarter, numismatic, or Americana collection!
