Up for auction is an official 1979 Susan B. Anthony Dollar Souvenir Set, featuring three uncirculated coins—one from each U.S. Mint facility that struck the first year of this historic series. These sets were produced exclusively by the U.S. Mint and offered as collectible keepsakes celebrating the release of the new small-size dollar.
About the Coins: Philadelphia Mint (P) - No mintmark, brilliant uncirculated finish; Denver Mint (D) - Strong, sharp strike, BU condition; San Francisco Mint (S) - Uncirculated issue (not the proof), BU condition.
Historical Significance: The 1979 Susan B. Anthony dollar was the first small-sized U.S. dollar coin, replacing the large Eisenhower dollar. It was also the first circulating U.S. coin to depict a real woman, honoring trailblazing suffragist Susan B. Anthony. The coin’s distinctive hendecagonal (11-sided) border and bold eagle reverse make it a favorite among collectors.
Packaging: Comes in original yellow stamped envelope which is slightly discolored—normal for age. Comes in the original U.S. Mint cellophane sleeve, sealed around all three coins. Includes a Mint-issued historical information card, as originally released in 1979. Coins remain bright and uncirculated, making this a wonderful addition to U.S. dollar collections or early-modern Mint sets.
