Offered for auction is a charming vintage “Spotty Dog” battery-operated remote control toy, manufactured in Japan circa 1950 by Alps. Marked “Pat-31-33918” and “Registered Trade,” this delightful collectible showcases the creativity and craftsmanship that made early Japanese battery toys highly sought after among collectors today.
Constructed from synthetic fiber fabric with plastic components, the dog measures approximately 10.5" long, 4.25" wide, and 6.5" tall. Using two “D” cell batteries, the toy performs multiple actions when the metal remote control button is pressed: the dog walks forward, moves its head side to side, lights up its eyes, then stops to bark. The battery compartment is clean. A wonderful mid-century toy collectible with terrific display appeal, though it does not include the original box or dog house.
